The Congress government has taken a sensational decision in the Telangana Assembly. The government has taken an important decision to investigate the financial irregularities related to Kaleshwaram barrage construction. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced that the investigation of the Kaleshwaram project will be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Meanwhile, the report of Justice PC Ghosh Commission was discussed in the Assembly till Sunday midnight. Various aspects of the Kaleshwaram Commission report were discussed for about nine and a half hours. During this, the Chief Minister said that the report of Justice PC Ghosh Commission clearly states that the project had many errors and irregularities.

Negligence in the plan, accused of design flaws

The Chief Minister clarified that the report showed that the three barrages were constructed without any proper plan. He said that there has been talk of design flaws, lack of quality supervision and deliberately hiding facts in the construction work. The Chief Minister also said that according to NDSA’s comments, Medigadda Barrage’s failure was due to negligence in the scheme, deficiencies of design flaws and quality control deficiencies. Therefore, it was also believed that construction had serious flaws. Revanth Reddy said that the commission’s report has clarified that intensive and comprehensive investigation of all these issues is necessary.

State and central government without project

The Kaleshwaram project includes not only the state government, but also the organization of the Central Government. Central agencies like WAPCOS have participated in design and construction. Financial institutions like PFC and REC have provided funds. The Commission has suggested that the investigation of the case should be handed over to the CBI as it includes inter -state elements. Based on this, the Telangana government has decided to hand over the investigation to the CBI. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that we hope that investigation will be done to change the estimate and punish all those who looted.

How much money was spent in the project?

CM Revanth answered the questions raised by MIM Legislature Party leader Akbaruddin in the discussion. He expressed grief that about one lakh crore rupees were wasted due to the Kaleswaram project. He reminded that people fought for water for separate Telangana state. According to the government- “So far, Rs 85,449 crore has been borrowed for Kaleshwaram works. Rs 27,738 crore (11.5 percent interest) has been borrowed from PFC, and Rs 30,536 crore (12 percent interest) has been borrowed from REC. So far, we have paid Rs 19,879 crore in the loan. There is a loan of crores of rupees. We still need Rs 47,000 crore to complete the work. “

The PC Ghosh Commission submitted its report to the government on 31 July. On August 4, the cabinet approved the report. The report of the Commission was discussed in the Assembly on Sunday. On this occasion, the Telangana government took a sensational decision.
