Kashmir: Terrorist attack in Kishtwar, two members of village defense group kidnapped and killed

Kashmir: Two members of the Village Defense Group (VDG) have been killed in a suspected terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district. These two VDG members, Nazir Ahmed and Kuldeep Kumar, had gone to the nearby forest area to graze their cattle and did not return. A massive search operation is being conducted by the security forces to recover their bodies.

An organization called “Kashmir Tigers” has taken responsibility for this attack. The statement issued by them said that both the VDG members had come close to the Mujahideen while chasing them. The organization claims that they captured Nazir Ahmed and Kuldeep Kumar and made them confess to their alleged “crimes” and then punished them.

The incident has been condemned by former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his father Farooq Abdullah. He said that this type of violence is a serious obstacle to lasting peace in the state. He expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.

According to a senior official, terrorist activities have increased in the region in recent months. Even during the last assembly elections, there were several encounters between security forces and terrorists. According to sources, Nazir Ahmed and Kuldeep Kumar were last seen with their cattle in Kuntwada forests of Chatru, but they did not return till evening. After this the terrorists released their photographs and confirmed the murder.

Kuldeep Kumar’s brother Prithvi told that he has received information that his brother and Ahmed were kidnapped and killed by terrorists. He said that the search operation is going on, but the bodies have not been recovered yet. Prithvi also revealed that his father passed away just a week ago, and now his brother’s death has left the family in deep shock.
