Terrorist Tahavvur Rana in judicial custody till 6 June
The 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks were presented in Patiala House Court in NIA remand on Friday in Patiala House Court. The NIA special court has ordered Tahwwur to be sent to judicial custody on 6 June. Due to security reasons, Rana was produced in court one day before the due date. Rana was taken to Tihar Jail after being sent to judicial custody.
The NIA brought Tehwavur Rana to India from America on April 10 from America. On April 10, he was sent to a special Nia Judge Chandrajit Singh to 18 days custody. It was again extended for 12 days.
On April 30, the court gave permission to take Samples of Rana’s voice and handwriting on the demand of NIA. Earlier on April 28, Special Nia Judge Chander Jeet Singh sent Rana to a 12 -day custody.
Tehwavur was arrested by the US agency FBI in October 2009 in Chicago, USA. He was accused of providing necessary goods to carry out the terrorist attack in 26/11 in Mumbai and Copenhagen.
Voice and writing sample test took place on 3 May
3 May took samples of Tahwwur Rana’s voice and handwriting. Rana was presented before Judicial Magistrate Vaibhav Kumar for this sample. Many letters and marks were written from Rana here. Advocate Piyush Sachdev confirmed that Rana fully followed the court’s directive to give these samples.
The agency argued that he needed more custody to complete interrogation. Demanding to increase his remand, the NIA argued that Rana was evasive during interrogation and was not cooperating in the investigation.
