The company has shared the information of Model Y on its website with the Indian market in mind. Its starting price is Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). This compact electric SUV will run up to 575km on full charge once. However, the company has not yet said when it will be delivered. At present, test drive options have also not been provided.

What did CM Fadnavis say: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis by Tesla’s decision to open his first center in Mumbai reflects the city and the state. He said that the inauguration of Tesla Experience Center is proof that Tesla has come to the right city and right state (ie Mumbai and Maharashtra).

The Chief Minister said on this occasion that Maharashtra wants Tesla to set up his research and development and manufacturing plants in India. The Chief Minister said that we want research, development and manufacturing to be done in India. I am sure Tesla will think about this at the right time. He said that Maharashtra should be considered a partner in his visit.

What’s special in Tesla Experience Center: Tesla India took a 24,565 sq ft ‘warehousing space’ at Lodha Logistics Park in Mumbai last month for a period of 5 years. ‘Tesla Experience Center’ is a special way to spread Tesla’s vehicles and their technology to customers. They are different from traditional ‘car showrooms’ and focus on providing customers a direct experience of Tesla’s products and innovations.

Union Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy said in June that the electric car manufacturer is not interested in the manufacture of cars in India, but is willing to set up a showroom in the country.
