Thailand To Waive Visas For Indians Government Plans To Attract More And More Tourists
Thailand: Just before Diwali, Thailand has given a special gift to Indian tourists. Actually, there is good news for those planning to travel from India to Thailand. According to the news, now Indian tourists will not need a visa to travel to Thailand. This is because Thailand has announced to abolish the visa requirement for tourists coming from India and Taiwan.
A Thai government spokesperson said on Tuesday that Thailand will waive visa requirements for people coming from India and Taiwan from next month to May 2024, in order to attract more tourists in the season. It is noteworthy that earlier in September, Thailand had also abolished visa requirements for Chinese tourists. Due to which 22 million tourists came to Thailand from January to October 29, which generated an income of 25.67 billion dollars.
Exemption will be available for 30 days
“People coming from India and Taiwan can enter Thailand without a visa for 30 days,” Reuters reported, quoting spokesperson Chai Watchronke as saying that India has emerged as Thailand’s fourth largest source market. About 12 lakh tourists have come to Thailand from India this year. Before India, the three biggest tourist source countries for Thailand are Malaysia, China and South Korea. Thailand is targeting about 28 million tourists this year.

The travel industry provides the best short-term economic stimulus for Thailand. According to Bank of Thailand data, tourism contributes about 12% of GDP and about a fifth of jobs. It is expected that this boom in the tourism sector will be able to compensate for the loss which has been caused due to the continued weak exports.
