High expectations

Expectations are high for the film, as Sai Pallavi and Naga Chaitanya are coming together once again after their hit Love Story (2022).

Naga Chaitanya also collaborated with Chandoo in 2016 for Premam. Chandoo’s previous work Karthikeyan 2 (2022) had won National Award.

An action drama directed by Chandoo Mondeti, Thandel has Naga Chaitanya playing a fisherman from Srikakulam who gets arrested by Pakistani forces in international waters and is imprisoned. According to reports, the film is based on a real-life story.

Sai Pallavi was last seen in Amaran (2024) and is basking in the success of the same.

With National Award-winning editor Naveen Nooli, Shamdat managing cinematography, and Devi Sri Prasad, a musician, handling music, Thandel features a strong crew. Srinagendra Tangala is in charge of the art department.

The makers have also shot for a dance number with the backdrop of Shivaratri. In a specially constructed set, the lead actors along with about 1,000 background dancers shot for the song.

With the film being based on real-life incidents in Srikakulam, the makers incorporated an old Shiva temple called Sri Mukhalingam and the grand festival hosted there annually for Shivaratri in the film.
