Cuttack: A shocking incident has come to light from Tangi area of Cuttack district of Odisha. The police caught the smugglers red handed while carrying the cattle in an inhuman manner in a car. The incident happened when the police was on regular patrolling at around 8 pm on Monday evening. At around 8:30 pm, the police caught sight of a Tata Indigo car, which was running at a very fast pace and its activity also looked suspicious. On suspicion, the police decided to stop him.
Officers were shocked while searching the car
When the car was stopped and searched at around 8:45 pm, police officials were also surprised. A bull was kept in a very cruel and inhuman conditions between the back seats of the car. Not only this, his feet were tied with a rope. Injuries were also found on the cattle’s body. It was clear that he was long kept in a closed car without wind and water. This type of transport is not only a violation of the Animal Cruelty Act, but it also creates the possibility of being part of the broad network of cow smuggling.
The police immediately took two people in the car into custody and started questioning them. Initial investigation revealed that the accused have been involved in such activities earlier and may be part of an organized cow smuggling racket. The car has been confiscated and the cattle found in it were immediately sent to the local animal shelter site, where it is being treated.
The police have registered a case under the cow smuggling and Animal Cruelty Act in this case. Now further investigation is going on, so that it can be ascertained under which network the accused were working. Police are also trying to find out from where the cattle were being brought and where they were to be sent.
