Thailand Prime Minister’s Office spokesperson Jirayayu Huangsap said that the caretaker Prime Minister Phumtham Vachayachai, Malaysia Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will attend the talks to be held on Monday at the invitation. Jirayu said that Hun Manet, Cambodian counterpart of Phumtham would also attend the talks, although Cambodian officials have not confirmed it immediately.

Struggle started like this

The conflict between the two countries began after five Thai soldiers were injured in an explosion in a tunnel last week on the border of Thailand and Cambodia. US President Donald Trump posted on ‘Truth Social’ on Saturday that he had spoken to the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia and suggested that if the struggle continues, he would not move forward on trade agreements with any country. He later said that both sides had agreed to negotiate the ceasefire.

Cambodia Prime Minister Hun Manet said on Sunday that his country had agreed to “immediate and unconditional ceasefire”. He had said that Trump told him that Thailand had also agreed to stop the attack after the US President’s talks with Phumtham. Despite diplomatic efforts, the struggle continued on Sunday in parts of the disputed border of the two countries.
