How was World War II started?

September 1, 1939 … It was not just a date, but it was a black day, when humanity saw its greatest wound. On this day, the most devastating struggle in the history of the world started ‘Second World War’. This devastation did not happen suddenly, but its roots had already been flourishing in the soil of hatred, changed and incomplete peace. The immediate reason for this great war may be an attack on Poland in Germany, but the story behind it is going to shock the heart.

Fire of revenge, then Hitler emerged

When the first World War (1914–1918) ended, the winning forces imposed a Treaty of Versay on Germany and brought it to the knees. It was not just an agreement, but a deep attack on the honor of Germany. He was convicted of war, his army was taken away and he was loaded so heavy that his economy was destroyed. A figure emerged by taking advantage of the fire of insulting and revenge in the hearts of the German people- Adolf Hitler.

Hitler and his Nazi party showed a false dream of bringing back the lost pride of Germany. His bloody purpose was to achieve ‘Lebensram’, the ‘place of life’, for which he had to trample Eastern Europe. He started violating the Versay’s Treaty as a piece of paper and openly violated it. He reinforced the German army and swallowed countries such as Austria and Czechoslovakia one by one.

World’s silence on Hitler’s antics

All this was happening, but countries like Britain and France, who had seen the massacre of the first world war, were living in the shadow of fear. They did not want another war at any cost. Instead of stopping Hitler’s evil antics, he kept silence or gave minor concessions. He felt that Hitler would be pacified by giving something, but his mistake proved to be the biggest mistake in history. Hitler took advantage of his weakness and increased his vandalism.

And then, September 1, 1939 …

Hitler signed a secret agreement with the Soviet Union, called ‘Molotov-Ribntrop Pact’. In this agreement, the two decided to divide Poland among themselves. Hitler understood that there is no one to stop him now. And then that day came. On September 1, 1939, Germany attacked Poland with a war at the ‘Blitzkrieg’ ie lightning speed. German tanks trampled the earth, the cannons showered fire and airplanes shouted death from the sky. The Poland army was not ready for this sudden attack and on seeing it, its expectations were found in the soil.

Subsequently, Britain and France finally broke their silence, but by then it was too late. He warned Hitler to withdraw from Poland, which he ignored. On September 3, 1939, Britain and France announced a war against Germany. And with this, there was such a havoc on humanity, which for the next 6 years held the whole world in his bloody claws.

Crores of innocents were killed in this war, millions of Jews were tortured by Hitler in the name of ‘Holocost’ and killed in gas chambers. This war was not just a military conflict, but a black blot on the discretion of humanity that changed the world map and thinking forever.
