Mohammad Yunus (Acting Bangladesh) and Sheikh Hasina former PM.
Dhaka Acting Mohammad Yunus has taken another major step to clamp down on former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He has formed a committee to investigate the transparency of the previous elections. This committee has gone out to investigate the democratic soul of Bangladesh. It has been alleged by the opposition that Sheikh Hasina has won the election illegally. Now Yunus is getting it investigated.
These elections will be investigated
This committee has been formed to investigate the three general elections held during Sheikh Hasina’s tenure in Bangladesh – 2014, 2018 and recently concluded 2024. All three elections had been in controversy for a long time. The opposition alleged that the then ruling Awami League turned the election process in its favor through the administration, security forces and the Election Commission.
Committee took first meeting
Shamim Hasnain kept listening to everyone in the first meeting of the review committee. There was a lot of files in front of him. Witnesses, CCTV footage of polling stations, reports of NGOs and notes of international observers are also being closely tested. The question is whether the so -called rigging in the former Bangladesh elections is really. The committee also had a journalist, a former Election Commissioner, a human rights activist and a university professor. Everyone had the same objective – to find out the truth and prepare recommendations for the future.
Elderly statement against Hasina
An elderly woman from an old locality in Dhaka made her statement against Hasina. He said, “In 2018, my son was stopped from casting votes. The police said -” Your vote has been cast in the morning. “He had pain in his eyes, but not afraid. The committee found in the hearing that the ballot boxes had already been filled in several polling stations before voting. In the 2024 election, the video, which went viral on social media, said that some officials themselves were casting votes.
Committee will report report
Shamim said, “It is not just a matter of election. It is a matter of the soul of the country. If the people feel that they do not matter, then democracy will be hollow.” The deadline to submit the report of the committee is fixed. This report examines a transparent, fair and democratic system of Bangladesh.
