Importance of child saptami fast
The child Saptami fast is observed on the seventh day of the Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. It is also known as Mukta Bharan Vrat. By observing this fast, the desire to get children is fulfilled and all the obstacles in the lives of children are removed. It is believed that if a childless couple keeps this fast with a sincere heart, then their lap does not remain lonely and they get worthy children. This fast reflects the unbreakable bond between parents and their children.
Child Saptami 2025: Date and auspicious time
In the year 2025, the fast of child Saptami will be observed on 30 August, Saturday.
• Saptami date starts: 29 August 2025, 08:21 pm
• Saptami date ends: 30 August 2025, 10:46 pm
According to Udaya Tithi, this fast will be celebrated only on 30 August. The auspicious time of worship is in the midday, so worshiping in the afternoon is considered to be particularly fruitful.
Law of child saptami fast
To observe this fast, it is important to take care of some special rules.
Worship material: Prepare the idol of Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati mainly for worship, Kalash, incense, lamps, flowers, fruits, camphor, kalava, akshat, roli, turmeric, and sweet puri (in the number of seven).
Method of worship:
• Wake up early in the morning and retire from bathing etc. and wear clean clothes.
• After this, take a pledge to fast.
• Put a red cloth at a post at the place of worship and install the statue of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati.
• Fill water in a urn and install it on the outpost and place mango leaves and coconut on it.
• Now worship Shiva-Parvati by law. Offer them incense, lamps, fruits and flowers.
• Next, offer sweet pods in banana leaves or offer it to God by placing it on seven different leaves.
• Wear cotton thin or silver bangle in the hand, which can be worn to the child after worship.
• During the puja, recite the fast story of children Saptami.
• Finally, perform the puja by performing Aarti.
By observing the fast of child Saptami with true mind and full reverence, one gets the blessings of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati, which fills happiness in the life of childless couples.
