Kamal Haasan’s thug life is a Tamil language gangster action drama directed by Mani Ratnam. The film shows a significant support between Haasan and Ratnam, 36 years after his prestigious film Naikan (1987). Silambasan TR, Trisha Krishnan, Jujo George, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lakshmi, Nasar, Ali Fazal and Rohit Saraf are also in important roles, which contribute to the detailed story of the film. However, even before the release of this film, Kamal Haasan was engulfed in controversies. In an event of the audio launch of this film, Kamal Haasan made a statement about the Kannada language which was strongly opposed. Kamal Haasan had said that Kannada language is born from Tamil. After which some Kannada language people opposed it and the matter reached the court.
