The efforts made by the Building Construction Department to equip this museum with modern and state -of -the -art facilities have now reached the final stage. Under this project, the rejuvenation and expansion of the museum is being worked at a cost of Rs. 158 crore.
Ganga and Patli galleries became the center of attraction
Ganga gallery The cultural journey of the Ganges river flowing through the seven major cultural regions of Bihar is displayed through very beautiful paintings, sculptures and artifacts. The social, religious and cultural significance of the Ganges can be felt here.
On the other end, Patli gallery A glimpse of the glorious past of the ancient Pataliputra is presented. This gallery depicts the rich history of Patna through the narratives of historical travelers such as the Greek Envoy Megasthanies and Chinese traveler Fahyan.

As new features, the museum has now designed a 2D auditorium, a temporary exhibition hall, museum administrative office, conservation laboratory, and a state -of -the -art auditorium with 105 seats. Facilities like new ticket counter, shady sheds built near it, cafeteria for visitors, VIP lounge for specific guests, and temporary gallery have also been added.
