Importance of Aja Ekadashi fast: If you know the importance of this Ekadashi fast, then this Ekadashi is considered to be destroying all kinds of sins. It is believed that by observing this fast, the sins of the present and previous births of the person are destroyed.
According to mythological beliefs, by observing a fast on Aja Ekadashi, a person gets virtuous fruit like Ashwamedha Yajna. The person observing this fast gets all worldly pleasures and in the end he goes to Vaikuntha Lok.
Worship method of Aja Ekadashi: The fast of Aja Ekadashi starts from Dashami Tithi (one day before the fast). It is important to follow some rules on this day.
• Dashami Tithi (a day ago): Eat satvik food in the evening and follow celibacy.
• Ekadashi date (fast day):
1. Get up before sunrise and take a bath and resolve the fast.
2. Install the idol or picture of Lord Vishnu in place of worship.
3. Light a lamp of ghee and offer yellow flowers, sandalwood and Tulsi Dal to God.
4. Anoint God with Panchamrit (mixture of milk, curd, honey, ghee, and Ganga water) and offer them offerings. Keep a basil letter in enjoyment.
5. ‘Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya Namah’ Chant the mantra.
6. Read or listen to the story of Aja Ekadashi fast.
7. Finally, perform the aarti and distribute the offerings to all.
8. Keep fast throughout the day and if possible, awaken at night and perform bhajan-kirtan of God.
• Dwadashi date (next day of fast):
1. After bathing in the morning, worship Lord Vishnu.
2. Get food and donate to a Brahmin.

Aja Ekadashi: 19 August 2025, auspicious time and passing time:
– Bhadrapada Krishna Ekadashi Tithi starts from 05:25 pm on 18 August 2025,
– Closing 19 August 2025, at 03 pm 32 minutes.
According to Udaya Tithi, fast will be observed on August 19.
– Time of fast breaking/ Parana: Auspicious time of fast or passion- On August 20, 06 am to 21 am to 53 minutes.
Dwadashi concluding time on Parana- 01 pm 58 minutes.
