Paris: The lower House of the French Parliament has passed a bill, under which adults suffering from incurable disease have been allowed to opt for death. Indeed, people across Europe have long been demanding options to end life in a legal way. People supporting the bill and the proposed law believe that this bill will reduce the pain of people suffering from incurable disease.

305 votes in favor

The National Assembly of France passed the bill related to this on Tuesday. This issue has been discussed for a long time. The Bill cast 305 votes while the opposition cast 199 votes. It will be sent to the Senate for further discussion. The last seal on this bill may take months to take a final seal on this bill amidst France’s long and complex legislative process. Along with this, another bill related to painless care has also been passed on Tuesday for the purpose of relieving pain and strengthening measures to maintain the dignity of patients.

Strict conditions are in the bill

Strict conditions are laid in the bill that ends life in a legal manner. In this, the age of patients should be more than 18 years and should be a French citizen or live in France. A team of doctors will confirm that the patient has a serious and incurable disease. The patient is suffering from unbearable pain and is demanding fatal medicine on his own will. Patients with neurodogenative disorders such as severe mental conditions and Alzheimer’s disease will not be eligible. (AP)
