The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued a ‘yellow’ alert for thunder heavy rains in several parts of Delhi and strong winds at a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour. The process of rain continues in Delhi NCR since Saturday. Normal life has been affected by this. Complaints of waterlogging have been received in many areas. This has affected traffic and people are facing problems. In such a situation, the Meteorological Department has appealed to the people not to get out of the house unnecessarily.
Apart from Delhi, heavy rains have also been warned in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat. A red alert has been issued for Gujarat. The Meteorological Department has also predicted heavy rains in Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh adjacent to Delhi. Alert has also been issued for many areas of Gujarat and Rajasthan. Apart from this, alert has also been issued for parts of Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Life affected due to rain in Delhi
Delhi received moderate to heavy rains on Saturday, causing complaints of waterlogging and traffic jam in many areas. In many areas of North, Central, South and South-East Delhi, people faced waterlogging and traffic jams. According to Public Works Department (PWD) officials, their flood control room received at least 10 complaints of waterlogging during the day and most of them were removed within an hour.
IMD warning
IMD has issued a warning about traffic jams, slippery on roads, probable damage to standing crops in gardens, horticulture and fields and partial damage to weak structures including raw houses, walls and slums. The department has advised people to follow traffic related advice, as far as possible staying indoors, keeping windows and closure, avoiding taking shelter under trees and staying away from water bodies and electrical installations. IMD has urged people not to touch electrical wires, stand near the pillars and take safe shelter immediately in the event of heavy rains.

339 roads closed in Himachal Pradesh
In many parts of Himachal Pradesh, many roads including a national highway are closed due to rain. Officials said that out of 339 roads closed, 162 roads are in Mandi district and 106 roads are in nearby Kullu. The State Emergency Campaign Center (SEOC) informed that National Highway 305 (from AOT to Sainge) is also closed. The Meteorological Center said that a ‘yellow alert’ of heavy rains has been released from Sunday to Tuesday in different parts of the state. He said that many parts of the state received light to moderate rainfall.
More than 150 deaths in Himachal
SEOC said that at least 151 people have died and 37 people are missing since the onset of monsoon on 20 June. It said that there has been a loss of Rs 2,326 crore in rain -related incidents in Himachal Pradesh. SEOC said that a total of 172 power transformers and 133 water supply schemes have been disrupted in the state. So far, there have been 75 floods in the state, 39 of cloudburst and 74 landslides in this monsoon. (Input- PTI/IMD)
