Uttarayan is considered the day of the gods. It is very auspicious and positive. Therefore, all auspicious and auspicious works like marriage, Mundan, initiation, home entry, vratodya, Upanayana sanskar (janeu), deity-pratishtha etc. are considered more good as the ‘Uttarayan’ of the Sun. In Uttarayan, Shishir, Spring and Summer Seasons come.

Dakshinayana is considered the night of the gods. This period is very negative and weak. Therefore, all auspicious and auspicious works like marriage, Mundan, initiation, home entry, fasting, Upanayana rites (janeu), deity-pratishtha etc. are prohibited while ‘Dakshinayana’ of the Sun, but they can be performed by worshiping properly Vedic. Dakshinayana brings rain, autumn and Hemant season.
What is Sankranti-
According to the scripture, entering transit from one zodiac to another zodiac sign is called ‘Sankranti’. There are twelve solidaries in a solar year. The sun transiters live in one zodiac sign for one month, so Sankranti comes every month.
According to the name of the zodiac in which the Sun enters the Sun, the name of Sankranti is the name of Sankranti, such as the entry of the Sun’s Cancer is called ‘Cancer Sankranti’ and entry into Capricorn is called ‘Makar Sankranti’. ‘Makar Sankranti’ has special significance in all these twelve solstice because from this day the Sun is ‘Uttarayan’.
