The wheel of Lord Jagannath’s chariot will be established in Parliament
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has agreed to the proposal of Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) to set up three wheels of chariots used during the Puri Rath Yatra. A senior official gave this information on Saturday. The SJTA said in a statement, “During the visit of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla of Shri Jagannath Temple in Puri, the administration proposed to install three wheels of chariots in the Parliament complex. Birla has accepted this proposal. ”

SJTA Chief Administrator Aurobind Padhi said in a post on ‘X’ on Friday, “The Hon’ble Lok Sabha Speaker along with other dignitaries took the blessings of Mahaprabhu at Shri Jagannath Temple today. We are extremely grateful to the Honorable Chairman that he agreed to our proposal to set up a wheel of each of the three chariots used during the Rath Yatra.
What did Arabind Padhi say
Padhi said that the wheels of the chariots of Nandighosh (Lord Jagannath), Darpadalan (Goddess Subhadra) and Lord Balabhadra (Taldhwaj) will be taken to Delhi and established as a permanent symbol of the timeless culture and spiritual heritage of Odisha. After the annual Rath Yatra, the three chariots of the gods are fragmented every year. According to Bijay Mahapatra, the main carpenter of Nandighosh Rath, new wood is used every year, except for some major parts. Parts of the fragmented chariot are placed in the warehouse, and some of them are auctioned, including the wheels.
