India is now going to become self -sufficient in the semiconductor sector. Soon the world will be seen worldwide. Union IT and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav have announced the first 3Nm chip to be built in India. Recently, Chip Design Facility has been inaugurated in Noida and India’s Silicon City Bangalore adjacent to Delhi. Both these state-off-art design facilities will be designed with modern 3 nanometer architecture.

3Nm chip will be designed in India

While sharing a video from his X handle, the Union Minister wrote that 3Nm chip will be designed for the first time in India. These chips made in India will be used in many electronic devices including premium smartphones, tablets, laptops. Currently, companies like Samsung, OnePlus, Vivo, Xiaomi use 3Nm chip in their premium smartphones. These companies are completely dependent on China for this. Apple also uses TSMC chip in its iPhone.

Inaugurating both these facilities, the Union Minister said that the cutting edge 3Nm chip will be built at India’s first design center. This will prove to be a major milestone for India in the field of global semiconductor innovation. Earlier, 7Nm and 5Nm chips have been designed in India. India will join the list of countries with 3Nm chip, which will not need to depend on anyone for the latest technology semiconductor.

Employment opportunities will be born

The semiconductor’s ATMP i.e. assembly, testing, marking and packaging will be done in Semiconductor Design Facility of Noida and Bangalore. Regarding India’s semiconductor ecosystem, the Union Minister said that the opening of a semicondia design center in Uttar Pradesh will promote Pan-India semiconductor ecosystem. Also, will create new employment opportunities for the country’s best talent.

Under the India Semiconductor Mission, more than 270 academic institutions of the country have been given advanced EDA i.e. Electronics, Design, Automation Software tool. Soon, hands-on hardware kits will also be sent to them. The Union Minister has also appreciated the Center for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) for the success of the semiconductor mission in the country.
