Theft in Hindu Temple Thieves targeted Hindu temple in California, stole donation box weighing 100 pounds, police investigation started
America News Desk!!! Two suspects entered a Hindu temple in Sacramento city of California and stole a donation box from there. Police gave this information. Sacramento Police Department officers responded to the Hari Om Radha Krishna Temple on La Mancha Way at approximately 2:15 a.m. after receiving a report of the theft Monday morning. Surveillance video showed two thieves entering the temple and heading straight for the donation box, CBS News reports. In the footage he was also seen carrying a box weighing around 100 pounds behind the temple and putting it in a car.
Guru Maharaj, the temple’s custodian, told CBS News that the box contained thousands of dollars. “It seems whoever did this was premeditated,” Maharaj told the channel. Maharaj’s wife told that the thieves tried to enter through the back and side doors. “This is a huge loss for our community and we are here to help people,” Maharaj said. “We have this land here. We’re going to build 40 rooms of a homeless center so we can help people, and if these things keep happening, how can we help other people?”
No arrests have been made so far and investigators are asking anyone who may recognize the suspects or has information related to the theft to call the Sacramento Police Department. Condemning the incident in a message posted on Twitter, US-based advocacy organization Coalition of Hindus of North America (COHNA) called on Sacramento police to take the issue very seriously and treat it as a potential hate crime and violation of sacred space. Asked to investigate. Earlier in January this year, thieves targeted the Shri Omkarnath Temple in Brazos Valley, Texas and stole its donation box.
