Guwahati: Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani, president of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, today addressed a press conference at Hotel RKD in Guwahati, capital of Assam, expressing deep concern and regret over the recent actions taken in the state. Along with this, they said that these actions are not only against human principles but also a violation of the instructions of the Supreme Court.

He told that yesterday we visited many places in Assam, where we saw tragic scenes with our eyes, there was helplessness and disappointment on people’s faces. Maulana Madani said that more worrying is that people are being divided on the basis of religion and abusive words like ‘Mian’ and ‘Doutful’ are being used against a unique identity community, which are more painful and derogatory than the sabotage actions.

‘If you meet foreigners, they should be excluded’

Maulana Madani said in clear terms that if a foreigner is found here, they should be excluded, our condolences are not with them, but the citizens of India who have been evicted should be resettled again. Where the eviction is unavoidable, action should be taken as per the guidelines of the Supreme Court and human sensation should be given priority. Legal action should also be taken against foreigners. Giving the example, Maulana Madani said that the good work done out of the system also becomes accountable and crime.

‘I am in Assam since tomorrow, if CM wants to send me to Bangladesh’

He said that the Executive Committee of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind had demanded action against the Chief Minister on the ongoing harassment and repression in Assam and this demand is our constitutional right as a responsible citizen. We have exercised this right and will continue to do further. We do not care about any intimidation, although the unfortunate thing is that a high position like the Chief Minister says that he will ‘send me to Bangladesh’. I have been in Assam since tomorrow, if he wants, send me to Bangladesh. But the question arises that when a person like me, whose ancestors, tolerated the torture of 6 different jails in the freedom struggle and sacrificed for decades, it can be said about him, then what will be their attitude towards the common Muslims?

‘Nafati people should go to Pakistan’

On the Chief Minister’s statement that he is not afraid, Maulana Madni said that he is the head of a state, holding a big position, what is the need to fear? I am not a big leader, just a common citizen. According to him I am ‘zero’, but I do not need to be afraid either. The basic question is that those who spread hatred in the country will never be tolerated. There is no place in this country for those who provoke the fire of hate and enmity. India has thousands of years old history, its pride and dignity. Those who want to spoil it and are working to rub soot on this earth have no right to live in this country. It would be better for such hatred people to go to Pakistan.

‘Namghar and Masjid both integral part of the culture of Assam’

Maulana Madani also said in response to a question that this complaint of the local people is also important that the land of the ‘name house’ is being affected due to the encroachers. He said that both Namghar and Masjid are an integral part of the culture of Assam. Assam is a very green, calm and rich state, it is a confluence of various civilizations. Its construction has a combined role of both Shankar Dev and Azan Fakir. Therefore, if the name is damaged to the house, the mosque also cannot remain safe. Therefore, the responsibility of their safety is equally applied to all of us.

What else did Maulana Madani say?

Maulana Madani highlighted the hundred years history of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind at the beginning of the press conference and said that it is an important role in the freedom struggle. When the two-nation theory (the principle of two-nation) was presented, the only Muslim organization of the country that opposed the partition of India on the basis of religion was the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind. This organization still raises the issues of nation building on the basis of basic principles. Its approach has always been clear that the service of the country should not be on the basis of religion, but in a comprehensive national and human spirit. This is the reason that our opponents also accept the fact that when Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind talks, it does on the basis of principles and when it works, it does in terms of history and by staying within the scope of the system.

Who were present in the press conference?

Apart from President Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind at the press conference, Maulana Mohammad Hakimuddin Qasmi (Nazim Umumi, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind), Maulana Mehboob Hasan (Secretary, Jamiat Ulema Assam), Maulana Abdul Qadir (Secretary, Jamiat Ulema Assam), Maulana Fazlul Karim (Secretary, Jamiat Ulema Assam), Mufti Aaduddin (Gwalpada), Maulana Abul Hashim (Kokrajhar) etc. were also present. On this occasion, Maulana Abdul Qadir said that on behalf of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind yesterday, three hundred affected families were distributed items in Lakhiganj, Dhubri (Assam).
