According to a report by Faraj News in Tehran, cities in which the ban has been banned include Karmanshah, Ilam, Hamadan, Karman, Borouzard, Robat Karim, Lavnat and Golestan. Similar sanctions were first imposed in the capital Tehran in 2019.

Iranian newspaper Etemad quoted an official of Ilam city as saying that “legal action would be taken against those who violate”. The news of Iran’s official newspaper said that the aim of newly taken steps is to maintain public arrangements, ensure security and protect public health. Mozaffar Regai, an officer in the North Western Iran’s Ardbeil province, said that people would have to bear the consequences if they were seen walking dogs in parks, public places or taking them on their vehicles.
