He completed his schooling and college from Pune. He did B.J. of Pune MBBS degree from the medical college, which used to be a very big thing at that time. Mohan Agashe did post graduation in psychiatry after MBBS and became a brain doctor. However, during post graduation, his interest started moving towards acting and he turned to Bollywood.

In fact, during the doctor’s studies, Mohan Agashe met Utpal Dutt and only after meeting him, Mohan started interested in theater and acting. When he started his career as a psychiatrist, he also started acting. He became the founding director of ‘Maharashtra Mental Health Institute’. When the Latur earthquake occurred in Maharashtra in 1993, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) assigned him a necessary task of doing research on the mental effects of persons suffering from earthquakes. Along with the doctor, Mohan Agashe was also active in the field of acting and left his performance in many Hindi and Marathi films.
