Maruti’s share fell below 40%
According to data from the Federation (FADA) of the vehicle dealer associations, Maruti Suzuki India’s domestic passenger vehicle market has come down by 40 percent in April. Mahindra & Mahindra has emerged as the second largest vehicle company in this month. Long -time second -ranked company Hundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has slipped to fourth place in April this year with 12.47 percent market share. In April 2025, Maruti Suzuki India retail sales was 1,38,021 units, and the company’s market share was 39.44 percent. According to Fada data, in the same month last year, the company made retail sale of 1,39,173 units with 40.39 percent market share. In FY 2024-25, Maruti Suzuki’s market share was 40.25 percent with 16,71,559 units. In the last financial year 2023-24, it recorded retail sales of 16,08,041 units with 40.6 percent market share.
Tata Motors holds third place
Tata Motors finished third with 12.59 percent market share. Tata Motors finished third in April 2025 with retail sales of 44,065 units and 12.59 percent market share. Fada said the total retail sales of the domestic passenger vehicle (PV) in April 2025 was 3,49,939 units, while in April 2024 it was 3,44,594 units. In this way, it increased by 1.55 percent on an annual basis.
Mahindra benefits the most
In April this year, Mahindra & Mahindra benefited the most, due to the strong sale of SUVs. In April 2025, M&M retail sales was 48,405 units and market share of 13.83 percent. With this, the company came second in terms of market share. In the same month last year, M&M sales was 38,696 units and ranked fourth with 11.23 percent market share. According to Fada, Hundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) sold 43,642 units last month, and she finished fourth with a 12.47 percent market share. The company recorded a total retail sales of 5,59,149 units in 2024-25 with 13.46 percent market share.
