Left -arm fast bowler Khalil Ahmed has ended his term with the English County Team Essex due to personal reasons, the club confirmed it on Monday.
26 -year -old Khalil Ahmed, who was associated with Essex in June, was to play both red and white balls for two months, but returned home after playing only two first class matches in the current county championship. Khalil’s contract was initially by the end of September. He was expected to play the remaining match of the six county championship match i.e. Essex’s red ball season and a maximum of ten list a match in the Royal London One-Day Cup.
However, his participation was limited to only two red -ball matches, in which he took four wickets at an average of 64.50. Essex said in an official statement, “However, we are disappointed with his departure, we fully support Khalil’s decision and are grateful to his contribution in time spent with us.”
Khalil attended Essex after a brilliant performance while playing with a red ball for India A, where he took 4 wickets for 70 runs in the first class match against England Lions. Along with that performance, his ability to play with his left hand angle and white ball made him an attractive option for the Essex team at the end of the season. His contract was announced in mid -June and soon after that he joined the team.
Khalil, who last represented India in 2019, has played 11 ODIs and 14 T20 Internationals, taking 15 and 13 wickets respectively. In the long format, he has taken 60 wickets in 22 first -class matches at an average of 30.13.
