Actor Aftab Shivdasani started his acting career as a child artist and worked in films like Mr. India, Shahenshah and Chalbaaz. Aftab said on the show, ‘When I was not an actor and was doing music video and modeling assignments, I met a person who promised me to get a film. He used to call me late at night and kept me hanging. Later I realized that this was a deception and I stopped picking up his phone. The person was a very well-known person and I cannot tell his name here. I had also met him once or twice, but later when his intentions were cleared, I stopped meeting. ‘ For those who do not know about the casting couch, let us tell you that this is an exploitative practice where people sitting in power positions in the entertainment industry seek ambitious actors from roles or sexual relations in exchange for career opportunities. It is considered immoral and derogatory.
Was started his career with Mast film
Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma gave the first big break to Aftab Shivdasani in the film Mast, starring Urmila Matondkar in 1999. In a conversation with Etimes, Aftab clarified that his background as a child artist had nothing to do with getting the main role in Mast. While in school, he often auditioned for advertisements, as he loved to stay in front of the camera. During one such cola advertisement, he attracted the attention of Ram Gopal Varma, who later cast him in Mast.
