Karan Johar, director Neeraj Ghaywan and the film’s star cast were part of the International Film Festival with Ishaan Khattar and Jahnavi Kapoor for the premiere of the film ‘Homebound’ under his production house. Karan stepped into direction in 1998 with the blockbuster hit ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’. Karan Johar tells the pain of unilateral love
Recently, in an interview in Raj Shamani’s YouTube podcast show ‘Speaking with Raj Shamani’, Karan spoke openly about his unilateral love and the story behind the 2016 film ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’. He described the experience of unilateral love as “torture” and “the world’s worst feel”. He also told what kind of pain and anxiety he had to go through in a period of unilateral love.
Experience of unilateral love was painful
Karan said that although unilateral love was painful, it has strengthened them. He also said that he had adopted a reverse positive logic to deal with it. He further said that he was planning to make a historic film, but it did not happen for various reasons and then he decided to make a happy film, as he wanted to feel happy after unilateral love in love, due to which he wrote ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’.

Last year, the director also wrote an emotional note about the star cast of the film ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ on his official Instagram handle. He shared several pictures from the film’s set and described it as a private project. In the Instagram note, Karan wrote, “Aye dil hai difficult will always be personal for me … It was all the learning of my life that fall in love, unilaterally dealing with unilateral love and also how we can be so flexible even when the heart breaks so final … The experience of filming ADHM was one of my best set experiences ..”
