Lords Test: The third Test of the five -match series between India and England is being played in Lord’s. The Lords Test of an excellent player of the Indian team proved to be the last. After a long time, this player, which is making a comeback in Team India, has been dropped from Team India for the remaining two matches against England. The decision of the team management and the selectors clearly indicates that now the doors have been closed for them.

From domestic cricket to Test team, the journey was great

The player we are talking about is none other than 33 -year -old Karun Nair. Karun drew the attention of the selectors by performing brilliantly in domestic cricket. He was included in the Indian team for the tour of England after continuous rains.

This was his return to the Test team after 8 years. The fans hoped that he would catch this opportunity with both hands and would confirm his place in the team. But he could not do so and like the first two matches, he flopped in Lords Test.

Karun Nair’s flop show on England tour

In the first Test against England, Karun Nair got a chance to bat on number-6. He could not even open an account in the first innings, while he could score 20 runs in the second innings. The special thing is that the same match was like a run-year for the rest of the batsmen.

In the match where Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul scored centuries. The pitch was easy for the batsmen, but Nair could not take advantage of the atmosphere. In the second Test, Karun was sent to number-3, where he scored 31 and 26 runs.

He also scored just 40 runs in the first innings of Lords Test. Overall, he has scored just 117 runs in 5 innings on England tour, that too without a single half -century. This performance questions his utility as a test player.

Although questions are definitely arising on the basis of performance about Karun, it is too early to say that his career is over. So far, Team India’s playing 11 was not declared for the remaining two Tests, nor has Karun Nair out.

In such a situation, they may have another chance to return. If they get a chance to play in the last two matches, it can be the last big platform for them to prove themselves. The selectors’ eyes will still be on their performance.
