The neighboring country of India Myanmar was shaken by the earthquake. The intensity of the earthquake on the Richter scale has been recorded at 4.2. According to the National Center for Sismology (NCS), the earthquake in Myanmar occurred late at 2:42 pm Indian time. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km from the ground.

Know where the center of earthquake is?

The NCS wrote on the social media platform X, ‘The center latitude of the earthquake in Myanmar: 20.88 n, longitude: 95.82 E. The earthquake has occurred at 2.42 minutes 47 seconds. However, no news of any kind of loss of life has been received from the earthquake.

Myanmar is quite sensitive to earthquake

Explain that Myanmar is quite sensitive to the dangers of earthquake, including the threat of tsunami on its long coastline. Myanmar is located between four tectonic plates (Indian, Eurasian, Sunda and Burma plates), which mutter in active geological processes.

These parts of Myanmar are very sensitive

A change of 1,400 km long passes through Myanmar. The dispersion of Andaman connects the center to the conflict region located in the north, which is called the Sagiing Fault. Sagiing fault has increased earthquake threats to Sagiing, Mandalay, Bago and Yangon, which represents 46 percent of Myanmar’s total population.

When there was an earthquake of 7.0 intensity

However, Yangon is relatively distant from the fault trace, yet due to its dense population, the earthquake is at risk. There was an intense earthquake of 7.0 magnitude in 1903 in Bago, Myanmar, which also affected Yangon. (Input- ani)
