The 34 -year -old player we are talking about is none other than Ireland’s opener Peter Moore. Moore played international cricket for two countries-Zimbabwe and Ireland.

Born in Harare, Moore made his ODI debut against Bangladesh in 2014 for Zimbabwe. In 2016, he also made his Test and T20 format debut and soon became an important part of the team. In 2019, he was also made the vice -captain of Zimbabwe, making his role even more important.

Big twist in career and the path of Ireland

After a strong career with Zimbabwe, Peter Moore chose a new path. After getting Irish passport, he chose Ireland cricket and made his Test debut in Dhaka in 2023. His last international match was against Zimbabwe on 10 February 2025.

In this Test Series match against Zimbabwe, he played two innings of 4 and 30 runs. It was a fullcover of his career in a way, in which the beginning and end started against the same country.

Peter Moore contributed brilliantly to Zimbabwe to the three formats – Test, ODI and T20, while only Test cricket for Ireland played. He scored 734 with 6 half -centuries in 15 Tests, 827 with 4 fifties in 49 ODIs and 364 runs in 21 T20I with 1 half -century.

Annandering her retirement, Moore thanked her coaches, teammates and fans. He said that he is satisfied with his career and will now look for a new role related to cricket – he is coaching or any other role.
