In an interview to the film Companion, Gauhar Khan had told that there is no formula to get a good role. Even if you look good, success is not guaranteed. I had to lose my hand with the biggest projects of my life only because I looked good, and this project was ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.
The actress had said, I met Danny Boyle and gave five rounds auditions. After the fifth round, he said that ‘you are a great actor, have you taken training in India itself.’ The actress further said, at that time I had hardly any experience, I said, ‘Yes I have taken training in India itself.’
Gauhar told that after this Danny said to him, you speak like a actors from outside, how have you learned? I said I don’t know, I just try. Then he said, you are a great actor but we will not be able to cast you because I have to match the three edge groups and cannot keep with your face in a slumdog Millionaire. I said that ‘I can also be in slum.’
