Bengaluru: The Karnataka Legislative Assembly has changed the name of Bangalore City University to Dr. Manmohan Singh Bangalore City University in an important judgment. This decision has been taken to honor former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s important contribution in the development of Bengaluru. Many important projects were completed in Bengaluru during his tenure and the city emerged as a hub of technology. Under the Karnataka State University (Amendment) Act 2025, the name of the university will be converted into all official records and documents.
Former PM’s contribution to the early development of Bengaluru Metro
Please tell that during his tenure, Dr. Manmohan Singh played a big role in making Bangalore a modern and technology hub. In 2006, he laid the foundation of the Bangalore-Electronic City Elevated Highway, which is an important route connecting the city to its IT hub and industrial areas. Apart from this, his government also contributed to making Bangalore-Nelmangala NH4 road 6 lanes and making 4 km long elevated part. Also, the early development of the Bengaluru Metro was also supported under his leadership, which is today an important part of the city’s urban movement.
