Applications were invited for the appointment of spin bowling coach in Many former cricketers of the country have shown interest in this post. Among them, a big name is also of former Indian all -rounder Sunil Joshi, who is currently working with Punjab Kings as a spin bowling coach in the IPL 2025 season.
Sunil Joshi has played 15 Tests and 69 ODIs for India between 1996 and 2002. His experience in the field of coaching has also been strong – he has been the coach of the Ranji team of Uttar Pradesh and has also played the role of a spin bowling consultant with the Bangladesh national team.

The board conducted an online interview for this role, which was vacated by Sairaj much resignation, in which Sunil Joshi participated. In this interview panel VVS Laxman (Head, NCA), Ajit Agarkar (Chief selector) and AB Kuruvilla
(GM of cricket operations) included. Very recently left the post of Center of Excellence to join Rajasthan Royals, according to BCCI sources, Joshi’s interview was quite impressive and given his widespread experience, he could get an edge over the rest of the candidates.

Apart from Sunil Joshi, some more experienced names have also filed a claim for this post. India’s Under-19 women’s team coach Nushin Al Khadir, former spinner Rakesh Dhruv of Gujarat and Saurashtra, and former Vidarbha player Pritam Gandhe also participated in the interview process.
Nushin Al Khadir has played 5 Tests and 78 ODIs for India and has also been part of the NCA setup for a long time. At the same time, Dhruv has been a left -arm spinner, while Gandhe has been active in domestic cricket as an off -spinner.

A senior BCCI official said in a conversation with PTI, “Sunil Joshi’s CV is much stronger than other candidates. He has played Test cricket, coached domestic and internationally, and has also worked with IPL franchises. Also, he is also an additional benefit.”
