Punjabi film industry singer Jasbir Singh Jassi has opened a front against Honey Singh. Not only this, Jasbir Singh has objected to Honey Singh’s invitation in the Filmfare Awards Punjabi. Also said that people who have been promoting drugs should not be invited to this award ceremony.

In which Jassi expressed disappointment and argued that this decision is contrary to the ongoing campaign against drug addiction in Punjab. He said, ‘For years we have been saying that this man has glorified alcohol and intoxication in his songs, yet he is being called to perform on the stage of Punjab. It is sad to think that we do not have such artists who can represent our culture positively. Jassi reminded the audience that there was a demand for legal action against Honey Singh’s controversial song recently. He questioned why the organizers and the state leadership despite this allowed his performance. He asked, ‘What is the compulsion? Why is a person being promoted here who ever said that he will put drugs in the DNA of generations? This is not in the interest of Punjab.

Jasbir Singh Jassi also clarified that his attitude was not inspired by any personal complaint. He insisted, ‘Some people may say that I am disappointed or being sidelined. But this is not about me – it is about Punjab. If I have to choose between my friends and Punjab in the industry, then I will choose Punjab every time. Appealing to the Chief Minister and senior police officers to intervene, Jassi appealed to the Punjabis to avoid considering such artists as normal. He said, ‘We need role models that uplift our children, not push them towards destruction.’ Online opinion on this issue is divided – where some fans argue that music should be seen as entertainment, while some people support the demand for accountability from Jassi’s organizers. The Punjabi Filmfare Awards are scheduled to be held in Mohali, but the debate over the presence of Honey Singh can now eclipse the ceremony.
