Indian musician Ricky Kej has previously won three Grammys in his career. This time, the Grammy 2025 nominations list reveals that Ricky Kej has earned his fourth nomination. That’s right!
Under the Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album category, Ricky Kej’s album Break of Dawn at the 67th annual Grammy Awards. After his first win back in 2015, Ricky Kej has expressed his excitement about the nomination and the possibility of winning his fourth big win. Here is what the musician had to say.
Ricky Kej’s fourth Grammy nomination
In a conversation with ANI, the artist expressed his delight at the nomination. He recalled his past wins and hoped that this nomination would lead to his fourth historic win at the Grammys in 2025. Ricky Kej then spoke about his passion for environmentalism and stressed how Indian culture “teaches us that the impurities of the environment are in direct relation to the impurities of the mind.”
He further said that his album, Break of Dawn was created in line with his belief to create a kind and compassionate society using the power of music. According to Ricky Kej, each of the nine songs on the Break of Dawn album was curated to promote mental health and wellness with Indian-rooted wellness music.
Ricky Kej’s Grammy wins
In 2015, Ricky Kej won his first-ever Grammy award for his album Winds of Samsara for the Best New Age album. Following this, the musician won his next two Grammys in the years 2022 and 2023. If all goes well, Ricky Kej will be accepting his fourth Grammy award at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
Ricky Kej is among five Indian-origin artists – Anoushka Shankar, Varijashree Venugopal, Radhika Vekaria, and Chandrika Tandon – who have secured a Grammy nomination this year.
