Tim David had a heavy decision to misbehave with the umpire, ICC gave a big decision; Know what is the matter
In the last T20 against the West Indies, Australian batsman Tim David’s anger set out on the umpire. David expressed displeasure over the field over a wide call, as a result of which the ICC imposed a fine and a demerit point on him. This is David’s first major mistake case in the last two years, but his bat was constantly making a blast in this series.
On July 28, Tim David was batting against the West Indies in the fifth and last T20 played at St. Kitts. In the fifth over, a ball from Aljari Joseph went out of the leg side, which David considered wide, but the umpire did not give it a wide. Angry, David, with both hands, pointed to umpire Leslie Refer and expressed displeasure towards him.
The ICC considered it against the spirit of the game and charged David under Level 1. The allegation is under Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which is associated with disagreeing on the decision of the umpire. On August 4, the ICC confirmed that David was fined 10% of the match fee and a demerit point was added to their records. However, this is his first crime in the last two years.
On the recommendation of the match referee Rion King, David accepted his mistake and accepted the punishment, after which there was no need for a formal hearing. The charge was charged by on-field umpire Zahid Basarath and Leslie Refer, Third Umpire Dieton Butler and fourth umpire Gregory Brathwaite.
However, David scored 30 runs in the match and played a key role in winning Australia by three wickets. With this, Australia made a clean sweep to West Indies 5–0. In this series, David scored a century in the third T20 by scoring a century from just 37 balls and set the fastest century in T20 International.
After getting the first title to Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2025, David also retained the form in the West Indies series. He scored 132 runs in three innings in the series, with 102* his first T20 international century.
