Tim David scored the fastest T20i century for Australia, became the second batsman in the world to do so
Australia’s Dhakad all-rounder Tim David (July 26) rocked a century in the third T20 International played at Warner Park in St. Kitts on Saturday (July 26). Chasing a huge target of 215 runs, David scored an unbeaten 102 runs in 37 balls at a strong rate of 275.68 in 37 balls, hitting 11 sixes and 6 fours.
When David came to bat, Australia’s team had lost 3 wickets in the powerplay. David hit the first ball and caught the rhythm immediately. He hit nine sixes in three consecutive overs against bowlers like Gudkesh Moti, Akil Hosen and Roston Chase. David completed his half -century in 16 balls, which is the fastest half -century in this format by any Australian. In this list, he left behind Marcus Stoinis and Travid Head, who has scored a half -century in 17 balls.
David completed his century in 37 balls and set a record for scoring the fastest T20 International century as Australian. In this list, he left behind Josh English, who scored a century in 43 balls in the 2024 match against Scotland in Edenburg.
David is the second batsman to score a century while batting number 5 or below in a successful run to T20 International. Earlier, Mark Chapman of New Zealand was able to do so.
Apart from this, he has come second in the list of players who hit the most sixes in one match as Australian. There is only former captain Aaron Finch (14 six) ahead of him.
David, along with Mitchell Owen, shared a 128 -run partnership for the fifth wicket. Owen played an unbeaten 36 in 16 balls. On the basis of David’s winning innings, Australia won in 16.1 overs to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.
Let us know that this was David’s first match after the match played for RCB in IPL on 23 May. He suffered a hamstring injury during the IPL.
