TRAI has released a new data of users added and reduced by telecom companies in January 2025. According to the latest report of the telecom regulator, Airtel and Jio have once again added millions of users to their network. At the same time, millions of users of BSNL and VI have reduced. The number of mobile users in India has also increased rapidly. Mobile users have recorded a monthly growth of 0.55%.
115 crore mobile users
According to TRAI data, the number of wireless (mobile) users in India has crossed 1150.66 million, or 115.6 crore. This time the regulator has listed the number of 5G users in the mobile category. Earlier it was in fixed wireline category. This is the reason why this growth has been seen in the number of mobile users.
In January 2025, Airtel joined the highest 1.65 million new users, or 16.5 lakh new users in their networks. At the same time, Reliance Jio has also added 0.68 million or 6.8 lakh new users to its network. Vodafone Idea has suffered the most users’ loss. The company has lost 1.33 million or about 1.3 million users from its network. Apart from this, about 1.5 lakh users of government telecom company BSNL have also been reduced.
Jio’s king
After adding more than 6 lakh new users, Jio’s market share has reached 40.46 percent. The number of users of the company has increased to 46.58 crores. At the same time, Airtel has firmly set his foot on the second number. The company’s market share has increased to 33.61 percent. The total number of mobile users of Airtel has crossed 38.69 crores.
VI’s market share has come down to 17.89 percent. The company currently has 20.59 crore users. At the same time, BSNL’s market share is just 7.95 percent and the number of users of the company is 9.15 crores. In this way, 91.96 percent of the total mobile subscribers of India are with private telecom companies.
