Road from Kintur to Najaf
In the beginning of the 19th century, when the shadow of the British rule was deepened on India, Syed Ahmed Musavi was born in a simple Shia family of Kintur. Musavi’s ancestors came from Iran, but Kintur’s soil had connected him to his roots. Syed Ahmed had a tendency towards religion. In the 1830s, when he went out to the city of Iraq to go out to the Rauje of Hazrat Ali, hardly anyone would have thought that this journey would turn the pages of history.
Travel from Najaf to Khuman
In the streets of Najaf, Syed Ahmed not only earned Illm, but also found a new floor. Syed from Najaf reached the city of Khuman, Iran, where he started a new life. Married, settled the family, but never left his Indian identity. He added the surname ‘Hindi’ ahead of which people used to call him “Syed Ahmed Musavi Hindi”. Syed Ahmed Musavi passed away in Karbala in 1869 but his training and attitude kept showing the way to his descendants.

The legacy of Syed Ahmed Musavi was carried forward by his grandson Rohollah Khomeini. Born on 24 September 1902 in a simple home in Khuman, Rohollah’s childhood was spent between the verses of the Quran and the religion. At the age of six, he took the Quran in his heart. His education in Kum city made him deep knowledge of Shia scriptures. Khomeini’s mind was not limited to books only, he also dreamed of change.
Iran changed with Khomeini’s message
In the 1960s, when Shah Raza Pahlavi’s US-supported power was at its peak, Ruhollah Khomeini raised his voice against his policies. Their arguments spread like fire. Shah expelled Ruhollah Khomeini from the country in 1964. The exile of Khomeini, who lived in Türkiye, Iraq and then France, became the foundation of a revolution. From the land of France, he gave the message that changed Iran forever in 1979.

Amid this revolution in Iran, a person like Ayatollah Ali Khamenei emerged. Born on 17 July 1939, Ali, Syed Jawad, was one of the eight children of Khamenei. He was raised in the streets of Mashhad. Inspired by Khomeini’s ideas, he joined the revolution. His Ilm and Dedication made him a close aide of Khomeini. After Khomeini’s death in 1989, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was elected the Supreme Leader. Since then, Khamenei has been taking over the reins of Iran. Although Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has no direct connection with India, but his Maestro Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini’s ancestor went to Iran from India.
