Travis Head WTC Record: Travis Head was the hero of Australia’s victory in the Barbados Test against West Indies. Along with scoring half-centuries in both innings, he has also become the owner of a special record in the World Test Championship.
Australian star batsman Travis Head is in tremendous form these days. In the first Test match played against the West Indies in Barbados, he scored a brilliant half -century in both innings and played an important role in winning his team by 159 runs within three days. In the first innings, he scored 59 runs off 78 balls which included 9 fours. After this, he also stood in the second innings and scored 61 runs off 95 balls. He was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ for his brilliant performance.
But not only this, with this award, Travis Head also took a big record in his name. He has become the first player in the world to win the ‘Player of the Match’ 10 times in the World Test Championship (WTC).
Head has played 50 WTC Test matches so far, in which he has scored 3196 runs. His first ‘Player of the Match’ Award received him against New Zealand in Melbourne in 2019. He then scored 114 runs in the first innings. He then won the award against England, India, West Indies and South Africa. England’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes and Joe Root have won the title of ‘Player of the Match’ 5-5 times in WTC so far from the head.
If we only talk about Australian Test cricket, the ‘Man of the Match’ awards have been won by only Shane Warne (17), Ricky Ponting (16), Steve Waugh (14), Steve Smith (13), Glenn McGrath (11) and Allen Border (11).
