America Fixed Visa Terms: The administration of US President Donald Trump has taken a new steps regarding visa which will affect visa holders living in the US. A proposed government rules have been issued in the US. Under this rule, visa deadline will now be fixed for students, exchange visitors and foreign journalists. According to the proposed rule, international students, exchange visitors and media personnel will now get visas for a fixed period only. This new move will create new problems for international students, exchange visitors and foreign journalists.
Visa time period will be decided
Earlier, if a student (on F visa) America has gone to study, then his visa was valid till his studies were completed. If an exchange visitor (on J visa) has gone for a cultural or research program, his visa was valid till the period of that program. If a journalist (on i visa) has gone to work in American media, then his visa was valid until his job. However, this will not happen now and a time limit of the visa will be fixed.
What kind of changes will be?
The proposed rule states that the duration of students and exchange visitors will not be more than four years. Visa for journalists which can currently last for years will be for 240 days or in the case of people with Passports in China and Hong Kong. The proposal also states that visa holders can apply to pursue it. The Trump administration said in the proposed rule that these changes are necessary for better monitoring and maintenance of visa holders during their stay in the US.
Why steps were taken?
Regarding changes in visa regulations, a spokesman for the Homeland Security Department said that for a long time, previous administrators have allowed foreign students and other visa holders to live in the US almost indefinitely, which pose a risk for security. He said that it also causes damage to American citizens. This new proposed rule will eliminate its misuse forever by limiting some visa holders by limiting the period of living in the US.
