US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin met in Alaska

Trump putin meeting: US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin shook hands before the Alaska summit. This dialogue can give a new shape to the relationship between Russia and the US including war in Ukraine. The two leaders greeted each other on Joint Base ElMendorf-Richardson, where the authorities built a special platform, with a large ‘Alaska 2025’ sign.

Who are involved in the meeting

The meeting between Trump and Putin consists of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Steve Witchoff. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavarov and Foreign Affairs advisor Yuri Ushakov are attending the meeting with Putin. The change shows that the White House is taking a more cautious stance than the meeting held in Helsinki at 2018, when Trump and Putin first met with their interpreters for two hours. Putin and Trump will also hold a joint press conference at the end of the summit.

Trump has said this

In an interview given by Brett Bair of Fox News Channel in Air Force One, while flying to Alaska, Trump said that he would like to get out of the meeting with a ceasefire. He also said that he wanted a second meeting on Russia’s war in Ukraine. Regarding the abolition of enmity between the two countries, Trump said, “I will not be very happy if I don’t get it.” He had said that everyone is telling him that he will not get a ceasefire till the second meeting. He said, “So, let’s see what happens. If I leave without any kind of ceasefire, I would not be happy.”
