Los angeles: US President Donald Trump has suffered a major setback in the case of immigration. An American federal judge on Friday ordered the Trump administration to immediately stop indiscriminate immigration arrests and action in seven counties in California, including Los Angeles. The order came after a petition filed by the migrant rights organizations, in which the administration was accused of racial discrimination.

Accused of arrest on racial basis

Overseas rights groups have alleged in their petition that migrants are being targeted on racial basis in immigration operations being run by the Trump administration in southern California. Arrests are being made without warrant, the prisoners at the Los Angeles detaining center are being prevented from seeking legal assistance and the law enforcement officers are taking into custody after seeing the breed.

Tough stance of court

While hearing the petition of the migrants, Justice Mami E. Frimpong ordered the Trump administration to stop these actions with immediate effect. He also directed in a separate order that lawyers should not be prevented from meeting the prisoners at the immigration detention center at Los Angeles. Following this order, Assistant Secretary, US Ministry of Internal Safety, Trichia McLaglin, dismissed the allegations, saying, “The claim of law enforcement agencies to target a person on his breed is disgusted and clearly incorrect.”

Order came after arrest of 200 people

The court order came when the federal immigration officials raided two fields of cannabis in California on Thursday and arrested about 200 people who were suspected to illegally live in the country. During this time, there is also a report of the death of a person. Local residents and activists opposed the action at the scene, causing the situation to become tense. (AP)
