Trump’s tariff bomb exploded on European Union and Mexico, 30% tax will be levied from 1 August
Donald Trump
Bridhwater: US President Donald Trump has now bombed the European Union and Mexico. He announced on Saturday that he would impose 30 percent tariffs on the European Union and Mexico from 1 August. Trump, in a post on his social media account, announced a plane tariff on the US two biggest trading partners. These are part of the announcements of trump to install new tariffs. This tariff is the basis of his 2024 election campaign. Trump said that these tariffs would lay the foundation for reviving the American economy, which he claims that other countries have looted it for decades.
What Mexico has done is not enough
In his letter to the Mexico leader, Trump admitted that Mexico had been helpful in preventing the flow of illegal migrants and Phanteniles in the US. He also said that Mexico has not taken enough steps to prevent North America from converting to “Narco-smuggling ground”. Trump further said, “Mexico is helping me protect the border, but what Mexico has done is not enough.”
Trade deficit threatens national security
In a letter to the European Union, Trump said that America’s trade deficit is a threat to national security. Trump wrote in the letter, “We have discussed our business relations with the European Union for years, and we have come to the conclusion that we have to move away from these long-term, large and frequent trade deficit arising out of your tariffs, non-tariff policies and business obstacles.” “Unfortunately, our relationship has been far away from mutuality.”
European Union’s response
European Union President Ursula von Der Leyen reacted to refer to the European Union’s “negotiation, stability and commitment to a creative transatlantic partnership”. “At the same time, we will take all the necessary steps to protect the interests of the European Union, including proper counter -protest when the European Union tries to increase its tariff on the United States,” Von Der Leyen said in a statement.
Trump is flouting rules?
With mutual tariffs, Trump is flouting the rules that control world trade. For decades, the United States and most other countries have been following tariff rates prescribed through a series of complex dialogues known as the Uruguay round. The country can decide its own tariffs – but under the “Most Favorite Nation” approach, they cannot charge more tariffs than one country.
The Italian government said on Saturday that it was “closely eyeing” on the ongoing trade talks between the European Union and the United States and fully support the European Union Commission’s efforts. “We are confident of the goodwill of all stakeholders that can be reached on a fair agreement that can strengthen the entire West, because – in the current scenario – in the present scenario – in the present scenario – there will be no point in waging a trade war between the current scenario -” (AP)
