Neeraj Pandey’s ‘Special Oms 2’ has come back with a new story and a new, big danger. This web series focuses on an operation where Himmat Singh (KK Menon) and his team have to face a very vicious and dangerous enemy who is doing its nefarious intentions using the latest technology.

The story of the series incorporates events from one week, ie Friday to Thursday, in seven episodes. This concept is interesting in itself and keeps the audience tied in the beginning.

Parallelly several developments run. Farooq (Karan Taker), Abbas Sheikh (Vinay Pathak) is on mission in different parts of the world and Himmat Singh is POC. The missions get added and Himmat Singh’s work becomes easy. Along with this, Prakash Raj has his own separate track, on which Himmat Singh has to work.

Apart from this, Himmat Singh is also fighting the mission privately when his daughter gets a secret about her. However, this track is not so effective.

The series pace and thrill remain good for the first four episodes. The story slowly opens and the audience tries to understand the enemy with Himmat Singh’s team.

However, after this it seems as if the director was very early to finish the series. The story moves so fast that it is difficult to mix the audience with it and this haste reduces the thrill of the viewer. If this series was spread over 10 episodes, it could probably be developed better and the audience would have enjoyed action and suspense.

‘Special Ops 2’ has been shot in many countries and it reflects the large canvas and grandeur of the series. A lot of money has been spent on the production value, which is clearly visible in visuals.

The end of the series is disappointing. It would not digest to see the very powerful and a mission to stop a person who had the ability to eliminate the world. It does not do justice to the great height of the villain which is shown to be extremely dangerous throughout the series.

In addition, the ease with which Himmat Singh and his team finish the mission also seems a bit strange. This causes the thrill level to fall and the audience does not get the moment with the ‘Wah’ which is expected from the series like ‘Special Ops’. Somewhere it seems that the team has got great success in very little struggle, which does not cause the expected tension in the story.

Yes, this series shows one thing very well how enemies are used to fulfill their nefarious plans. This shows that new ways of fighting war have been invented and what kind of unexpected threats we may have to face in the future. This is an important message that the series gives effectively.

Talking about acting, KK Menon (Himmat Singh) has been excellent as usual. He has closely caught his calm, serious and impressive character throughout the series. His dialogue payment and body language fits perfectly in the role of an experienced person.

Karan Tacker did not remain as effective. Vinay Pathak had to get more opportunities. Saiyami Kher is seen standing in the sideline. Prakash Raj makes his presence despite a low scene.

Other artists are also fine in their characters, but KK Menon’s presence often fades them. The team members have played their roles, but no character can emerge effectively like Himmat Singh. Perhaps due to low episodes, he did not get a chance to show his characters deeply.

In terms of direction, Neeraj Pandey and Shivam Nair have done a great job in the initial episodes, in which they have created the atmosphere and suspense. However, by the end, they appear in a hurry to cover the story, which makes the plot look a little hasty. He has used the big budget and international locations well, but there was a scope to pull the story and make climax stronger.

Overall, ‘Special Ops 2’ can be seen for an interesting concept and strong acting of KK Menon, but its hasty end and lack of thrill to some extent does not make it as effective as the first series.
