Rishabh Pant Twin Centuries Record: In the first Test match being played against England in the headingley of Leeds, Rishabh Pant showed the feat that no Indian wicketkeeper was able to do till date. In the Leeds Test, two magnificent innings came out of his bat in the record book wrote a new chapter in the record book. These innings of Pant took over Team India in difficult times and took the exam fiercely for the English bowlers.
Became the first Indian wicketkeeper to score a century in both innings in England
This is the first time an Indian wicketkeeper batsman has scored a century in both innings of Tests in England. While Pant scored 134 runs in the first innings, in the second innings, he hit 118 runs in 140 balls with the help of 15 fours and 3 sixes and became the first Indian wicketkeeper-batter to score a century in both innings of the Test match. Pant shared a 195 -run partnership with KL Rahul in this innings. The partnership came at a time when Shubman Gill was out early and the team needed a strong foundation.
Those who become the second wicketkeeper-batsman in the world too
Rishabh Pant has become this feat not only India but also the second wicketkeeper-batsman in the world. So far, only two wicketkeepers have been in the history of Test cricket who have scored a century in both innings in a Test match. Prior to Pant, this achievement was named after Andy Flower of Zimbabwe, who scored 142 runs in the first innings in the Harare Test against South Africa in 2001 and an unbeaten 199 runs in the second innings. Now Rishabh Pant’s name has also been added to the same special list.
7th Indian batsman to score a century in both innings
Pant has now joined the list of selected Indian batsmen who have scored centuries in both innings of Tests. Prior to them, these acts have been done by Vijay Hazare, Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma. But this is the first time an Indian has performed as a wicketkeeper.
Pant has scored a total of four Test centuries in England so far, which is a record for any Indian wicketkeeper. Not only this, he is now behind only Rahul Dravid (6 centuries) in the list of Indians who scored the most Test century in England.
