Baku, 19 September (Hindustan Reporter). There were massive explosions from two different landmines in Karabakh, Azerbaijan. Six people including four police officers died in these blasts. Two Azerbaijani soldiers were injured after Armenia violated the ceasefire.

Karabakh is internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan. Karabakh, with a large ethnic Armenian population, fell out of Azerbaijan’s control in the early 1990s but Azerbaijan again captured Karabakh in the 2020 war. Now there were explosions from landmines in Karabakh and Nagorno of Karabakh region. Azerbaijan informed that these deadly landmines were laid by illegal Armenian armed groups. Six people, including four police officers, died in both the incidents. In both incidents, two trucks were hit by landmines. Four police officers were killed in one blast, while two citizens of Azerbaijan died in the other incident. After this, tension prevailed in Karabakh. There is a wave of mourning in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani TV stopped broadcasting entertainment programs.

There was no immediate reaction from ethnic Armenian authorities in Karabakh in this regard. Azerbaijan wants to disintegrate Armenian groups to allow the region to reunify. However, Armenia dismissed the allegations regarding laying of landmines in Azerbaijani territory as false. The explosions were reported to have occurred a day after essential food and medicines were delivered to Karabakh via two roads simultaneously. Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry accused illegal Armenian armed groups of jamming the GPS navigation of a passenger jet flying from Georgia to Baku.
