Uber is forcing passengers for advance tip, CCPA sent notice
Central consumer protection authority (CCPA) has sent a notice to Uber, a company that provides online cab service. Actually, Uber is recovering from its customers as an ‘advance tip’ in the name of fast service. For which this notice has been sent to the company. The CCPA believes that Uber is forcing or provoking the passengers to pay more as an advance tip in the name of fast service. Consumer Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi wrote on the social media account, “The practice of advance tip is very worrying.”
Forced to give ‘advance tip’ immoral and exploitative
Prahlad Joshi wrote, “Forcing the passengers to give ‘advance tip’ for early service, or provocation is immoral as well as exploitative. Such actions are under improper trade behavior. ”Joshi emphasized that ‘Tip’ is a symbol of appreciation after completion of services. It cannot be given before. Taking cognizance of the case, the minister directed the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) to investigate the matter.
CCPA issued notice to Uber and sought clarification
The Minister of Consumer Affairs said, “The CCPA today issued a notice to Uber in this regard seeking clarification from the company. In all types of conversations with customers, fairness, transparency and accountability should be maintained. ”Let us tell you that Uber India, the Indian unit of American ride Heling company Uber, provides caba, auto and bike taxi as well as freight facilities in the country. Uber India provides facilities in hundreds of small and big cities in India. Uber’s market share is the highest in the Indian ride Heling industry. Apart from Uber in the country, many other companies including Ola, Rapido are also in the ride Heling industry.
