Dubai: Britain’s Maritime Agency reported that one of its commercial ships near Yemen fired rockets and opened fire. Although no one has taken responsibility for this attack yet, the rebels are dominated in this maritime area and they often target cargo ships. In such a situation, there is suspicion of attacking the rebels. It is said that a group of armed people opened fire on the ship and fired rocket -powered grenades.

Attack near Hodeda Port

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said the incident occurred in about 51 knots (94 km) southwest from the Hodeda port in Yemen. The ship going north was attacked by people in several boats. The armed security team on the ship fired retaliation. Currently firing is going on from both sides. No casualties are known yet. The attack occurred at a time when tension in the Middle East is at the peak after the US air strikes on the Israeli-Hamas War, Iran-Israel War and Iranian nuclear bases.

The soldiers posted on the ship retaliated

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operation Center said that the armed security team on the ship had retaliated and the struggle continues. The officials are keeping an eye on the whole matter. Maritime security firm Embrey issued a warning saying that while going north in the Red Sea, 8 boats on a ship were attacked. The 5th fleet at the Middle East of the US Navy sent a signal to the Army Central Command but found no response immediately. Huti rebels of Yemen have been carrying out missiles and drone attacks on commercial and military ships in the region for some time.

There are often attacks on ships in this route

Between November 2023 and January 2025, the huts targeted more than 100 business ships from missiles and drones, two of which were drowned and four sailors were killed. Due to this, the flow of trade through the Red Sea corridor has reduced considerably. This route usually passes through the $ 1 trillion US dollars annually. The bandits of Somalia are also active in this area who often rob ships. (AP)
