UK warning 4 weeks before the Ahmedabad accident
The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) made a new disclosure on the maintenance of Boeing aircraft on Tuesday. The CAA said that four weeks before the Ahmedabad plane crash, alert was issued regarding the fuel control switch of Boeing aircraft.
The CAA on 15 May instructed the airlines to follow the instructions of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the US. The FAA, in its instructions, described the fuel shutoff valve actors in the aircraft Boeing 737, 757, 767, 777 and 787 aircraft.
The CAA also ordered all the airlines coming to Britain to check these valves, change or repair if needed and do daily investigation. At the same time, the primary report has revealed that the Ahmedabad accident occurred due to the closure of the plane’s fuel switch.
In fact, on 12 June, a flight AI 171 from Ahmedabad to London collided with a medical hostel building shortly after the takeoff. 270 people died in this.
What is fuel shutoff valve?
It is an important safety device, which prevents fuel supply to the engine when needed. It is used during engine fire, emergency landing or maintenance.
DGCA order- Check fuel switch for all Boeing aircraft
The fuel control switch of all Boeing aircraft registered in India will be tested. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued an order to the airlines on Monday. It states that the investigation should be completed by 21 July.
DGCA has advised all the airline operators of Boeing to submit the report after the investigation is completed. The decision has been taken after the initial investigation report of Ahmedabad Plain Crash came out, this report was released by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) on 12 July.
The report said that the fuel control switches, run cutoffs and then turned back to run during the Ahmedabad plane crash had stopped getting fuel. Some foreign airlines, including Etihad, have already started investigating their dreamliners.
